At what point do your credit cards start hurting your credit?

reduce debt
CutieTM asked:

I have been told that to make my credit score higher, I need to reduce my credit card debt to 40% of the limit of the card. I was told that the card debt only begins hurting you when you go above that 40% of the limit of the card.

I just read somewhere else that going above 20% begins to HURT your credit score. Which is it?

reduce debt
Zurboni Z asked:

Will our Debt finally be reduced once again like Bill Clinton and other fellow democrats did to fix the budget 8 years ago?

Will we finally find ways to not spend 700 billion to the rich stock companies will Obama Veto and investigate all this crap bush spending and give it back to the people?

Thank God Obama is going to reverse all that money being thrown at people who don’t deserve it

I hope Bush rots in hell for his 700 billion to the wealthy and all other money he gave from the average tax payers AND GIVES THAT BACK TO THE PEOPLE!

Why do people believe there was a surplus during Clinton Years?

reduce debt
morris asked:

Clinton left office with a larger federal debt than when he started. There was only a brief period when revenues exeeded expenses, and the government immediently increased spending. No surplus was every used to reduce the federal debt. The debt continued to grow. Just like every president in the last 25 years. The federal debt was never reduced under Clinton. Both parties have been proven to be budget busters.

How could we get our government to start reducing the debt?

reduce debt
chattterus asked:

Currently the government is over 9 trillion dollars in debt. That is around 120,000 dollars of debt for every person in America.

In addition there is a matter of 430 billion dollars in interest on that debt every year. The interest payment is greater than the deficit in the federal budget.

This has caused the dollar’s value to fall in the world. That has caused prices of all foreign made products to increase including gas. So not only does the government need to take in more money to survive but all of us have to pay more for everything we buy.

Putting who is to blame aside, how can we get our government to fix this massive problem?

Should I use my emergency fund to pay off my credit debt?

reduce debt
luvahun410 asked:

I have about roughly $5000 of credit debt which I’ve consolidated and now have min. payments of $100 a month.
I’ve also started an emergency fund as these are troubling times. My question is, should use the money I’ve saved up ($1000) to pay off my credit card now?

A few other things that my affect this- I only make $26,000 a year. I currently work for the state, which may face an overall 10% budget cut. However, my sector is one of two the governor specifically said that he would avoid cutting.

Thank you!

PS. Please don’t lecture me about being responsible about money. I got myself into this trouble when I was 18 and stupid. I realize now how important it is to be careful with credit cards and have reduced this debt by nearly half.

Assistance with paying off student loan debt?

reduce debt
jesslove14 asked:

I am up to my ears with student loan debt. How does someone pay off this debt if their pay check is merely enough to pay for day care and not very much else. Does anyone know of someone out there an organization or a company that helps college grads reduce their student loan debt?? Anything. I have tried refinancing and consolidating, but with the government being what it is, no one wants to do that any more… any help is MUCH appreciated.
Thank you!

how about if we just levy a war tax to pay the $120Billion a year we are now borrowing from our kids?

reduce debt
Fancy That asked:

Seriously, we banter back and forth about taxes and wealth distribution. How about if we just start ponying for a pay as you go plan for the war. That would help us reduce the national debt and solve lots of problems. And, it’s by far the patriotic thing to do.

Who is with me?
